How Many Songs Did The Beatles Write?

Posted by Valentine Belue on Saturday, June 1, 2024

Former English rock band The Beatles, or the “Fab Four,” released songs for eight years after being signed period 1962 and 1970. They’re described as the “biggest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time,” but how many of their songs did the band write?

The Beatles have written 229 songs, and they’ve released covers of songs from various artists, with most of them from lead guitarist George Harrison. They’ve produced 20 number one hits and have sold over 188 million records in the US alone.

Read more below about who’s responsible for writing the bulk of the band’s songs.

Who Wrote The Most Songs?

Their primary songwriters were the partnership of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, who composed most of the group’s songs; lead guitarist George Harrison wrote 22 songs. Every member of the band contributed to the songwriting aspect; therefore, every member is credited for songwriting on at least one song.

Who Was The Most Successful Beatle Member?

In terms of songwriting, Paul McCartney was the most successful at that.

Paul McCartney is the man behind 32 of the band’s number one hits in the US, whereas fellow band member and songwriting partner, John Lennon’s figure stands at 26 (23 co-written). An astounding 91 of McCartney’s singles reached the top 10, with 33 ranking at number one.

When it comes to wealth, it so happens that Paul McCartney is the wealthiest Beatle member with a staggering net worth of $1.2 billion

So not only was Paul McCartney the most successful songwriter in the band, but he’s also a billionaire! Being a billionaire is quite a rarity; there are only 2,095 in the world as a whole, with 614 residing in the US.

The other band members are worth between $350 million and $800 million

Who Had The Best Voice?

You might’ve guessed it by now, but it’s speculated that the great Paul McCartney had the best voice, although some fans have argued that John and George had eccentric vocals too. In a poll, half of the voters said Paul had the best voice, with John following closely behind with 42% of votes.

Who Was The Fabbest of the Four?

One thing that everyone’s having difficulty in deciding is: who was the fabbest of the four?

It’s easy to say that Paul McCartney was the best Beatle as this is widely accepted, but if McCartney’s the best at everything, then what were his bandmates doing? Surely another Beatle was better than McCartney, right?

Perhaps the youngest and arguably wisest Beatle, George, was the best out of them all. Let me tell you why.

First off, when there was feuds and rivalry between bandmates Lennon and McCartney, George demonstrated his maturity despite being the youngest by keeping his nose out of the drama. His diary entry from the time proves this, where he wrote, “January 10. Got up. Went to Twickenham. Rehearsed until lunchtime. Left the Beatles. Went home.”

Now, which band member’s solo album is the most successful? Clue: it’s not McCartney’s!

I bet you didn’t know that George’s solo-album All Things Must Pass, released in 1970, is the most successful album produced by an ex-Beatle, did you?

Can we take a moment to reflect on how George was recruited when he was just 14? And now he has produced the most successful solo album out of the three other members; that’s saying something.

And have you seen the guy’s facial hair? It’s impressive that a guy can manage to grow so much hair!

Since he was so young when the band emerged, it’s no wonder that everyone failed to recognize his talent, but what’s clear now is that he definitely has talent, and he has flourished since the band split in the 70s.
